A safe raceday requires lots of volunteers. Some of the hardest-working volunteers are the AFM Course Workers. The AFM Course Worker Crew is one of the best motorcycle racetrack working groups around.

To be a course worker, you need to be 18 years of age. You do NOT need prior experience, we will pair you with a more experienced worker if you are new. You should plan on showing up at the track by 6:30am, and wear as much white as possible (jeans or khakis are also acceptable). You cannot wear flag colors (Black, Yellow, Red, Stripes).

The types of course worer jobs are:

  • Communicator: this person is on the communication system, works in the box, and tells the race officials what’s going on in their turn.
  • Flagger: this person waves the appropriate flag at the appropriate time. This lets the riders know what’s ahead of them. Often works in the box, but sometimes also closer to the track for better visibility.
  • Handler: this person is usually very experienced, and will actually respond to a crashed rider.

AFM provides coffee and donuts, lunch, and end-of-day beverages. There is an annual Worker Appreciation Event, usually the last race of the year, where donated items are raffled off to workers.

Course Workers need to complete the standard License Application Form and submit Contact Info Waiver Form which is available on the Membership Info Page

The Course Worker Coordinator is the "Big Kahuna", Phill Brown.
